Dental Assistants play a vital role in the dental office, handling a wide range of responsibilities—from managing patient records and sterilizing instruments to supporting clinicians during procedures. It’s a dynamic, fast-paced position that directly impacts patient well-being and care.
Through a partnership between Loyola Marymount and Workforce Training Academy USA, you can access accelerated Dental Assistant Training and launch a rewarding career in just weeks, not years.
Students in our Dental Assistant program have the opportunity to earn DANB certification, a nationally recognized credential, upon successful completion of the required coursework and exams—strengthening their career prospects in the dental field.
Course Overview
The Dental Assistant Certificate Program delivered by Workforce Training Academy USA is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the dental field through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on clinical training, and real-world dental office experience.
This program provides students with the knowledge, technical skills, and confidence needed to support dentists during patient care, maintain a safe and sterile clinical environment, assist with dental procedures, take dental X-rays, educate patients, and help manage front office responsibilities.
Students will learn essential topics such as dental terminology, anatomy, dental diseases, instruments and equipment, four-handed dentistry, sterilization procedures, radiology, restorative procedures, impressions, oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, crown and bridge procedures, office management, HIPAA, billing, insurance, and dental practice operations.
The program is offered in flexible schedule formats, including a 12-week option or an accelerated 12-day option. All program options require completion of a 100-hour externship at a dental office, which gives students valuable hands-on experience in a professional clinical setting.
Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a Certificate of Completion and are prepared to pursue key dental assisting credentials, including the DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam and Arizona Coronal Polishing certification requirements.
