The Heavy Equipment Operator training program covers the foundational skills of safety, pre- and post-operation checks, site planning and layout, and operations for a range of light-duty and heavy equipment. Heavy Equipment Operations supports multiple unique training pathways and credentials for skid steer, backhoe, loader, forklift, and excavator.

The Heavy Equipment Operations curriculum is designed to be used flexibly in conjunction with other craft training materials. Participants will receive an in depth understanding of NCCER Core, forklift operation, work zone flagger, OSHA 10 Construction, and Empire CAT level one heavy equipment operator.

Program Overview
• 196 one-hundred ninety-six (196) clock hour program.
• Program falls under Infrastructure and Construction.
• Students will have a combination of Online with a virtual instructor, classroom, and hands on training.
• Competencies to be achieved: Orientation to the trade; heavy equipmentsafety; identification of heavy equipment; basic
operational techniques; construction forklift, skid steer, backhoe/loader, excavator.
• Graduates receive a NCCER Core, National Forklift Foundation, National Safety Council Work Zone Flagger, OSHA 10 Construction, and Empire Caterpillar Certifications as well as Occupational Skills Gain.
